Description
3 Ten hour days or another combination of hours to equal 30 hrs. Clinic hours are 7:30 – 6:00.The Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record.
The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations.
The Physical Therapist Clinician II provides instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may rotate through our various clinical service areas.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical TherapistLicensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical TherapistCurrent CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice areaExperience REQUIRED:Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical TherapistExperience PREFERRED: N/AEducation/training REQUIRED:Graduate of an accredited School of Physical TherapyEducation/training PREFERRED:Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical TherapySuccessful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical LadderIndependent action(s) required:Patient evaluation and implementation of intervention programs, discharge planning.Ordering equipment.Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences.Scheduling and charging patients.Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, students, and volunteers.Employee is a senior member of a self-directed team and applies his knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution.Additional position requirements:Employee is expected to share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations of the department or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.Age Specific groups served: Pediatrics, Adolescence, Adult, GeriatricPhysical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate):Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.Activities: Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motionMental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinkingEmotional: Fast pace environment, Steady pace, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent changeDays
